"LA FRESNEDA" CORK OAK
Aldeanueva del Camino | What to See and Do
The Fresneda Cork Oak, declared a Singular Tree, is located in Aldeanueva del Camino. It is one of the largest cork oaks in the world, an authentic arboreal dinosaur that is essential to visit. It has a height of 20 m and a perimeter of 6.8 m and a crown diameter of 27,5 m. The state of conservation of the tree is fair as it has numerous warts, caused by poorly made cork bags. It also suffers from marked defoliation and has a lot of dry branches. The area that surrounds it is made up of a gentle valley in which there are other cork oaks, holm oaks, oaks and ash trees. To access it you have to take the CC-138 road towards Valdelamatanza, and about two kilometers you will see it on the right very close to the road. Please do not go beyond the perimeter fence to protect the roots of the tree.
