Declared a Historical-Artistic Complex in 1969, it is excellently preserved and belongs to the Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain. It is located in the Northwest of Hervás, sheltered by the Church of Santa María, and on the banks of the Ambroz River. The popular framework architecture that we can see walking through the streets of the Jewish neighborhood has as characteristics the ashlar and roll at the base of the houses that rise up to three heights on a masonry canvas reinforced with wooden beams from the Hervás chestnut grove between mud adobes and brick. There are numerous overhanging balconies and extended eaves on the roof. The adobe walls and wooden frameworks are still standing and visible, seeming fossilized by the number of centuries that have passed through them. The Jews of Hervás assimilated local construction models, integrating into a community that coexisted peacefully until the application of the expulsion decree.
