The route lasts 2h min., (4,3km), with a medium difficulty, the type of path is a trail, the landscape is a chestnut and oak forest. The route starts from Baños de Montemayor and ends very close to La Garganta. It is the old connection between these towns, before the arrival of motor vehicles. The name Camino de Arrieros refers to the people who transported goods on the backs of horses and mules. Due to the slope of the route, it may be more pleasant to do it downwards, or round trip to enjoy it more thoroughly.
The route is quite steep, starting at about 700 meters above sea level and going up to around 1.000 meters. The route, in the shady part of the mountain, is surrounded by a dense mixed forest of chestnut and oak, dotted with other species such as poplar, ash and alder. The floor is paved in most of the route, this is also a clue to not get lost on the route. At the end of the path, next to the road, the New Fountain awaits you to cool off.
