There are several legends surrounding it, its Vetón origin is known, along with a boar also carved in stone that is preserved in the Provincial Museum in Cáceres, of which there is a reproduction in the square. It is also said that due to the rumor that the interior of the bull housed a treasure, they broke the stone, hence the crack it presents today.
