The N-630, which here coincides with the Vía de la Plata, takes the name of Avenida de las Termas and is the axis that runs through this town, whose main attraction is the thermal waters since Roman times. For this reason, Termarium is celebrated every year, a festival with a Roman theme to open the thermal season.

It is known for its spa that has two buildings, with sulfur waters that are especially recommended for treating rheumatism, osteoarthritis and respiratory conditions, but also for relaxing and forgetting about stress in a unique place.

In the old one there is a Roman thermal bath that has two pools in an underground vaulted room, of great beauty. The Roman Baths Museum is a must-see, with pieces from different periods used for baths. The modern facilities of the new building have placed it among the most important in Spain.

The church of Santa María de la Asunción, declared a Historic-Artistic Monument, has a Plateresque doorway, a square Gothic tower and a Renaissance altarpiece.

It is an ideal place to rest, alternating baths in the hot springs with visits to the monuments and routes through its surroundings. Within its heritage we must highlight the Roman road, its history is explained in the Vía de la Plata Interpretation Center.

The church of Santa Catalina is the current Municipal Auditorium. It is pleasant to walk through its streets between large houses and mansions, some of which are in the belle époque style.

It is a good place to shop for crafts, a sample can be seen at the Crafts Interpretation Center, located next to the tourist office.

The Molinería Interpretation Center is also worth a visit.

Another recommended walk is to go up to the old train station, and from there take the new Vía Verde – Camino Natural de la Plata. A couple of kilometers north you will find a tunnel, if you choose the south you will be able to see Hervás.
