Casas del Monte is located on the slopes of the Trasierra mountains, about four kilometers from the A-66 La Plata Highway. In the mountains, the peaks of Fuente del Moro and Camocho stand out, with an altitude of 1800 meters.

Nearby is the greatest density of century-old chestnut trees in Ambroz, something truly special. Some of them are protected as Singular Trees, such as the Corbiche chestnut tree.

It is possible to see them even on foot of the forest track that goes up to cross the neighboring Jerte Valley, a very attractive track for cycling, although it requires good legs because the climb is long.
It is very relaxing to walk among its fields of cherry trees and olive trees grown on terraces. One of its main attractions lies in the natural pool embedded in the Ancha gorge, in the upper part of the town.

From its Roman past there remain the remains of the Roman villa of Granjuela, as well as winepresses and anthropomorphic tombs. Its beautiful popular architecture can be perfectly appreciated in the Las Lanchas neighborhood, Altozano, Hondón neighborhood, Chorro street and Plaza de los Morales.

Its most famous products are fruits, cherries and strawberries, and the artisan cheeses that are made there.

It is worth highlighting the favorable situation for paragliding, with a signposted point, which at the same time is one of the best viewpoints you will find to see a sunset.

For a walk you can go up to the mountain area, along the track that leaves the natural pool to the chestnut trees or higher up to the viewpoint. You can also choose to go down to the area of the old train station and take a flatter walk along the Greenway.
