It is one of the best preserved municipalities, with ashlar stone houses, steep alleys with delicious corners and facades covered in flowers.

The entire town is a natural viewpoint of the valley, with impressive views, since it is located on the slope of one of the abrupt western slopes of the Tras la Sierra mountain massif.

The remains of the Templar castle stand out. Some canvases of the walls are preserved.

In the Renaissance church of San Juan, the bell tower and the wooden carvings inside stand out. Its tower was the keep of a medieval castle from the 13th century. There are also Roman vestiges in the surroundings.

But the most unique thing about this town is its impressive natural heritage: The Temblar chestnut trees, in the stream of the same name, are a group of unique, gigantic and centuries-old trees, protected by the Government of Extremadura. There is a marked trail that leads there. But they are not the only ones, as other beautiful specimens of oaks on the same slope demonstrate.

It has a natural pool with several bathing areas, clean and fresh waters, and waters where you can cool off, as well as restaurants to savor the local cuisine.

For a walk you can take the La Burila trail, which goes down towards the pasture area, and can link with the Vía Verde – La Plata Natural Trail. Another option is to take the Bosques del Ambroz trail towards Gargantilla, or go up the track towards Picute, from where you can enjoy an unbeatable view of the sunset.
