It is probably the oldest town in Ambroz. The Celtic stone bull, in the middle of its plaza is its symbol, and the memory of the pre-Roman civilization of the Vetones, cattle town.

It is one of the best preserved municipalities with houses supported by ashlar stones. It has sloppy narrow streets with charming corners and façades covered with colourful flowers.

The whole place is a natural viewpoint towards the valley with breathtaking views, as it is located on one of the steepest western slopes of the mountain range called Tras la Sierra.

The remains of the Templar castle is another important point of interest. It preserves some sections of the castle walls.

The bell tower and the wooden carvings of the Reinassance San Juan Church are the most remarkable elements. Its tower was the former tower of a medieval castle. You can also visit the Roman remains in its surroundings,

Although the most remarkable element is the village natural heritage: The chestnut trees Castaños del Temblar located by the river of the same name. This is a group of special giant, ancient trees protected by the regional body Junta de Extremadura which can be visited by following the path leading there. These are not the only ones, as there are other beautiful oak trees on the same slope.

The village has a natural pool which is divided in several bath areas. Its water is cool and clean, and the place also has restaurants where you can taste the local gastronomy.

If you feel like going for a walk, it is a good choice to follow the path La Burila that goes down to the pasture land, and from there follow the Vía Verde – Camino Natural de la Plata. Another option is to follow the path Bosques del Ambroz towards Gargantilla or to go up the trail leading to the spot Picute, where you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset.
